Colonnade Heads to the West Coast for the 2019 CFP National Championship

This January, the Colonnade team will pack their bags for the West Coast to make players feel right at home in their San Jose hotels at the 2019 CFP National Championship game. In the second year of producing the Players’ Hospitality for the big game, the familiarity of Atlanta is gone, but the opportunity to create a new and exciting experience for the players is alive and well. According to Rachel Pitman, one of the seasoned Event Directors bringing this event to life, the difference is in the distance:

“We are literally going coast to coast! Georgia to California. This will be the farthest west we have ever been for a CFP National Championship event. It’s fun to explore new cities and produce great events for football fans all over the country.”

The players’ road to the CFP is paved with hard work, and Colonnade’s path is no exception. Planning for Players’ Hospitality started in August, with Colonnade working closely with CFP to ensure the weekend goes off without a hitch and that players enjoy their down time and can prepare for the game. During the four months of planning, Pitman says the CG event team is busy with multiple layout changes; ordering games; designing signage, florals, and other décor; and scheduling entertainment. While working closely with the CFP staff, Pitman says, “Our job is to come up with creative ways to execute their vision at the next level.”

Players are greeted with welcome parties, entertainment, games, and personalized touches, like a “Walk of Fame” with each player’s name and jersey number. The ultimate goal, as with all Colonnade events, Pitman says, “is to make their experience the best and most fun it can be, and to make everyone feel special and welcome.” She adds, “It’s exciting to watch it all come together and to have the opportunity to host the athletes and athletic staff. They are all so hyped to be there, and for the game. It’s fun to see them enjoy their time in our events.”
